Vilamoura is the glamourous younger sister of Albufeira, she is found around 20 minutes drive to the East of her much older sibling and although has a largely residential area, the main hustle and bustle is found close to the marina, Europe's largest sports marina, where a plethora of bars, gift shops, clothes shops, restaurants (including fine dining, traditional, fast-food, overseas cuisine and budget), banging night-clubs, gents clubs, and quiet cafes. The marina provides every conceivable type of water sport and boat trip you can imagine, from the famous Portugal Rocks Boat Party or BBQ beach cruise, jet ski hire, para-sailing, scuba diving and all manner of private boat charters.

Vilamoura, the European home of golf!

Although Vilamoura has everything to offer any style of holiday including the marina, waterparks, beautiful beaches and incredible nightlife, the main pass time in the town is Golf! Vilamoura is surrounded by 5 exclusive courses, Starting with the Laguna & Millennium courses found to the West of the town, where, in 2022 there are development plans for hotels, homes, apartments, bars and restaurants. Opposite these courses is the world-famous Victora Golf Course which is home to the Portuguese Masters played in or around late September or early October each year. To the north of the town, the Old Course, the longest established course in Vilamoura and the reason the golf rush to the town began in the 1970s, Just South of the Old Course closer to the town is Pinhal Golf Course and finally to the North East of the town is the 27 hole Vila Sol Golf Club. What has Vilamoura got for us?

Vilamoura offers a little more refinement to your holiday, although the concept of good food, bars, clubs, beaches and sunshine isn't that far removed from Albufeira, it's done with a little more style, the crowd is a little older and the vibe is more relaxed. Outside of golf, there are plenty of other activities to get involved in including the world-renowned equestrian centre, providing everything horsey, the Vilamoura Casino that includes a nightclub, cabaret show and of course blackjack, roulette and poker tables. Vilamoura also provides a great base to reach out to the other parts of the Algarve, being only a 20-minute transfer from the airport and within a 10-minute taxi or drive to the huge Mar Shopping centre.
